Kit Manufacturers & Distributors

Ehrman Tapestry

Ehrman Tapestry is a manufacturer and distributor of needlepoint kits of exceptional quality, both design and materials. Ehrman kits are worked almost exclusively in continental stitch (a few are worked in random longstitch). The beauty of the finished product relies on the elements of design and color. This is commonly done in needlepoint but perhaps due to Ehrman’s ability to attract excellent designers and therefore choose from superior designs, Ehrman seems to do it better than most.

They maintain 2 shops - one in London, U.K. and another in Chestertown, Maryland. The kits are available for purchase from both locations as well as various needlepoint suppliers around the world. The company also publishes a catalog and maintains a Website where you can view the product line and place an order.

Marjorie Adams runs the American branch of Ehrman Tapestry and the Website. Marjorie is clearly the driving force behind bringing this excellent product to the American market. In addition to the product line and Website, she publishes a Newsletter called Tapestry Tales, she sets up display/sales in different U.S. cities, and starting in 1999 she has organized trips to the U.K. with needlework themes.

Ehrman Tapestry has published several books that are described in the Book section. The books contain designs by Kaffe Fassett, Elian McCready, Candace Bahouth, Margaret Murton and many other excellent designers.

The Website contains descriptions and photos of the product line, the designers, directions to their London shop, a list of worldwide distributors and a section called Events & News. Visit the Website at

Glorafilia

Glorafilia, the partnership of Jennifer Berman and Carole Lazarus, began in the sixties. They continue to work as designers, manufacturers and distributors of needlepoint kits and hand painted canvases.

What sets Glorafilia apart are two things. First, their designs tend to use a variety of stitches resulting in richly textured finished canvases. Second, the subject of the designs is in many cases unusual for needlepoint. An excellent example is Wisteria from their current catalog. The photo is displayed on their Website but unfortunately the quality of the image doesn’t allow you to see the texture and variety of stitches.

Glorafilia has produced five books which are reviewed in our book section. The books are themed i.e. Impressionist Collection, Venice Collection, and Miniature Collection and contain wonderful colour photos and instructions for many of these projects.

Glorafilia kits are available from many retail shops and through their catalog. They maintain a Website through which you can order a catalog and learn more about the company and services provided. Visit the Website at www.glorafilia.com

Designers Forum

Designer’s Forum, headed by Beth Russell, produces needlepoint and cross-stitch kits based on the 19th century designs of William Morris and William de Morgan. The company is located in London and is a family affair.

The lush designs have been created by Beth and are available both as kits and in her books that are reviewed in our Book Section. The kits are available through many retail stores and through her catalog.

The company maintains a Website where you can view the products, order a catalog and learn more about Beth, her designs and inspirations. Visit the Website at www.bethrussellneedlepoint.com.
